About Me

I am a heart patient since year 2000, & had gone through two major open heart surgeries for heart valve replacement within 5 years.

I had my mitral heart valve replaced with a bio prosthetic heart valve in year 2002. I was advised by my cardiologist that it would probably last me 10-15 years before I needed a replacement again.

However, after I delivered my first & only child in April 2006, I had to undergo another open heart surgery as my bio prosthetic heart valve was leaking badly again. Then, even walking a few steps would leave me grasping for air.

Therefore, I went for my second heart valve replacement surgery immediately in December 2006, as any more delay in treatment might cause me to have heart failure. This time, I opted for a mechanical heart valve implant upon advice of my cardiologist & heart surgeon.

Having experienced the challenges & frustrations of recovering from open heart surgery twice, I will like to share my life experiences on open heart surgery recovery, as well as coping with life thereafter.

This Blog is set up to create an interactive online platform for the community to provide & share information from a heart patient’s perspective, as well as to offer support to other similar patients who are coping with the challenges of recovering from open heart surgeries.

Please feel free to leave your comments or feedback, if any.
